It was developed to be both human- and machine-readable, in the spirit of MarkDown and 'YAML'. The idea is that this makes it relatively easy to write other functions and packages to process 'ROCK' files. The 'rock' package contains functions for basic coding and analysis, such as collecting and showing coded fragments and prettifying sources, as well as a number of advanced analyses such as the Qualitative Network Approach and Qualitative/Unified Exploration of State Transitions. The 'ROCK' and this 'rock' package are described in the ROCK book (Zörgő & Peters, 2022; ), in Zörgő & Peters (2024) and Peters, Zörgő and van der Maas (2022) , and more information and tutorials are available at . authors: - family-names: Peters given-names: Gjalt-Jorn email: rock@opens.science orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0336-9589 - family-names: Zörgő given-names: Szilvia orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6916-2097 preferred-citation: type: manual title: 'rock: Reproducible Open Coding Kit' authors: - family-names: Peters given-names: Gjalt-Jorn email: rock@opens.science orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0336-9589 - family-names: Zörgő given-names: Szilvia orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6916-2097 year: '2026' notes: R package version 0.9.8 url: https://rock.opens.science repository: https://matherion.r-universe.dev repository-code: https://codeberg.org/R-packages/rock commit: 9493133b61e0240cd04851a40a2e2507afcaf80b url: https://rock.opens.science date-released: '2025-06-15' contact: - family-names: Peters given-names: Gjalt-Jorn email: rock@opens.science orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0336-9589 references: - type: article title: Using the Reproducible Open Coding Kit & Epistemic Network Analysis to model qualitative data authors: - family-names: Zörgő given-names: Szilvia - family-names: Peters given-names: Gjalt-Jorn Ygram volume: '11' doi: 10.1080/21642850.2022.2119144 issue: '1' journal: Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine month: '12' year: '2023' start: '2119144' - type: book title: The Reproducible Open Coding Kit authors: - family-names: Zörgő given-names: Szilvia - family-names: Peters given-names: Gjalt-Jorn Ygram year: '2026' publisher: name: Self-published, CC-BY-NC-SA doi: 10.5281/zenodo.3571019
